My Baby Girl is One Years Old

Wow, I can't believe that it's been a year since Moy Moy entered our lives. The very day she entered our lives, she has brought so much joy to our lives. Life was hectic. When she was born, Son Son was just a little over 3-1/2 years old and Dai Dai was just a little over 1-1/2 years old. Okay, life is crazy but I'm loving every minute of it. I really wanted to celebrate her first year.

I never threw a First Birthday Party for the boys. We didn't celebrate Son Son's first birthday because my father passed away a few days before Son Son turned one. When Dai Dai was turning one, our home was being renovated and we stayed over at my brother's, so once again, no party. So did I break tradition for Moy Moy? You better believe it! We had 4 parties to celebrate this big event. Were we playing favorites? I don't think so. It just happened that way. The reason we had 4 parties is because I like to keep parties intimate and I don't want to force people who don't know one another to feel like they need to socialize with my other family/friends. Let me tell you, my arms were sore as I was exhausted by the end of all the celebrations.

On Saturday, the first party, was with my hubby's side of the family - a lunch BBQ.

Here's the birthday girl with her uncle.

Eating her very first cake! This was a Costco cake (white sheet cake, raspberry mousse filling with white buttercream).

Sunday dinner was BBQ with my siblings and their families. We had a DQ Winnie the Pooh ice cream cake, Moy Moy's first.

Because Moy Moy is petite (she falls in the 10 percentile) I thought it befitting to have Tinkerbell as the theme of the parties.

Look at the decor! I made them all by myself by following these instructions.

On Monday, Moy Moy's official birthday, I invited my SAHM cousins and their children for a lunch BBQ. My cousin from Florida was visiting and her daughter turned one just 12 days earlier so we celebrated her birthday as well.

The birthday girls - It's hip to be one-years old.

Double Chocolate Fudge cake mix mini cupcakes with whipped icing a la Duncan Hines rimmed with pink candy sprinkles and red gel icing. Delicious!

Then on Saturday (yes, we were still celebrating a whole week after the first party), my girlfriends came over to celebrate. Even though we were caked out I baked banana cake loaves. Was I ever surprised when they showed up with presents and a Strawberry Shortcake from my favorite bakery, Gerhard's.

Moy Moy is one lucky gal to be surrounded by so many loved ones and such amazing friends. I'm looking forward to celebrating all her birthdays with her as I look forward to the boys'.
